Body Shape Layer

These layers house the numerous pocketed coils of this hybrid mattress. The coils enforce motion isolation, support in the contouring of the body, and also provide perimeter edge support.

Comfort Layer

The comfort layer is made of a high-density memory plus foam with top-notch pressure relieving capacity. It’s medium feel like the original counterpart.

Support Layer

This extra layer is one of the distinguishing features between the Luxe and the Original. This layer is made of Gel Visco foam which is engineered to cushion the weight of the body on the mattress. It comes with the medium IFD to suit any body type.

Transition Layer

This layer is made of prime quality polyfoam for better contouring and for the transitioning of your body from the top layers down to the core. It’s medium IFD.

Zoned Body Shape Layer

With this zoning technology, your shoulders will feel soft and your hips firm for steady spine alignment. There’s also an advanced edge support system.

Support Core

A DuraDense foam provides the base for this mattress. This core makes the mattress durable and keeps it in shape.

Helix Dawn

Construction Details

Quality Quilted Cover

The cover here is the same as the original but with some added features. It comes with a breathable quality pillow top and is quilted for superior comfort. It also features the Tencel Technology for high breathability and massive airflow for coolness.

Comfort Layer

The first layer of comfort here is a high-density Gel Visco foam that is engineered to cushion your weight and increase your level of comfort. It’s firm for back and stomach sleepers.

Support Layer

There’s a support layer made of Helix Dynamic Foam and this creates a distinction between the Dawn and the Dawn Luxe. This additional layer contours the body fully and has a higher IFD to suit any body type.

Transition Layer

A premium-grade ergonomic polyfoam acts as the transition layer in this mattress. It is active in body support and contouring.

Zoned Body Shape Layer

Beyond the inclusion of over one thousand coils, the zoning technology in play here makes your shoulders feel softer and your hips firmer. This aligns your spine and relieves pressure from your back. It also provides streamlined lumbar and perimeter edge support.

Support Core Layer

A DuraDense foam sits at the bottom of the entire construction to ensure structural stability, support and durability.

Layla Mattresses9.3

Layla Mattress

This 10″ mattress is built in four unique layers with each layer offering its own benefit to the sleeper. The use of copper is also a catch here.

The details

Polyester Cover

The cover of this mattress is a product of polyester blend that offers a soft-plush feeling. In addition to this comfort, thermogel was infused into this cover to make it cooler and retain this coolness.

Comfort Layer (Soft)

The first layer after the cover begins with the soft side. It’s a 3″ copper memory foam. This layer is sheer soft so it allows you to sink in and contour you afterward.

With copper infused into this layer of memory foam, it creates an extra cooling effect and owing to the antimicrobial properties of copper, you are free of bacteria while you enjoy your sleep. The copper also provides variable support in points where you have deep compression.

Transition Layer

This transition layer is made of a 2″ HD foam. This layer is responsible for the interaction between the soft layer and the firm layer of the mattress.

Support Base

At the base of this mattress is the support 4.5″ foam. It is much firmer and it’s a HD polyfoam. Usually, the mattress layers end here at the base but we still have the firm side since it’s a 2-in-1 flippable mattress.

Comfort Layer (Firm)

On the flip side of this mattress is the firm layer which is 1″ in height and is also a copper-infused memory foam but a lot thinner and firm.

N/B: Both firm and soft options come with motion isolation implying that the movement of your partner on the bed while you are fast asleep does not affect you in any way.

Layla Hybrid

The Layla Hybrid features same construction. Two firmness options, all you have to do is flip to get your desired firmness.

This mattress is made up of 5 layers with the pocketed coils making the real difference and the zipper cover of course.

The details

Feature Rich Cover

The cover of this hybrid mattress is rich in features. From being removable with a zipper to being made from a combination of polyester, lycra and viscose, it’s one feature-packed irregular cover. All these contribute to making it super cool.  It’s highly breathable, soft and assures the sleeper of cool sleep.

Comfort Layer (Soft)

As usual, the soft side in a flippable mattress is the first layer. This soft side is a 2.5″ copper-infused memory foam just like it’s other all-foam counterpart.

The copper in the mix caters for bacteria protection with it’s anti-microbial properties. It makes the mattress extra-cool by zapping heat away.

It also contours the body in a slow responsive style and adds to ease pressure from relevant points where it’s needed.

Transition Layer

Underneath this soft layer is the transition layer which is a zoned 2″ polyfoam that serves as the bridge between the soft side and the firm side. This transition layer is firm which is needed for the transition role it plays.

Support Layer

This support layer makes all the difference and the major reason why this mattress is termed hybrid.

Stealing a sizable portion of the entire mattress, it’s 6″ high in pocketed coils covered in foam.

All the bouncy and floating feeling is supplied from this layer. The coils add extra comfort and coolness equally.

Base Support

This layer is usually the last but for the flippable nature of this mattress, it finds itself in this position. It’s a 1.5″ zoned polyfoam and the thinner version of the zoned polyfoam above it.

Comfort Layer (Firm)

The flip side layer is the firm one which is a 1.5″ copper-infused memory foam. It sits at the bottom so you could just flip it over and get down to the firm side of things.  It is thinner than the soft side which is normal.

Sleeping Type

Helix Mattresses9.5

The Helix Midnight and Luxe are designed for side sleepers and for every other kind of sleeper with the firmness in the medium-firm range.

The Helix Dawn and Luxe are designed for stomach and back sleepers.

Layla Mattresses9.1

Layla Mattress

With two firmness options available, If you are a side sleeper, you can simply stick with the soft side. This layer offers better pressure relief generally for a side sleeper.

For the back sleeper, you are covered on both sides. They both help in the even distribution of your weight around the mattress so you don’t feel pressure anywhere. Both sides work very well for the back sleeper.

For the regular stomach sleeper, the firm side is ideal. It offers great support for the hips.

Layla Hybrid Mattress

Same double firmness options, the soft side is ideal for every side sleeper. It offers pressure relief and allows the sleeper to get immersed into the mattress. It also eases the pressure off the hips and shoulders.

For back sleepers, both sides are great. The soft side offers better spine alignment and contouring, allowing the sleeper to sink in for premium comfort. Pressure relief is also effective on the firm side.

For the stomach sleeper, the soft side might be too soft, and too much sinking can affect the alignment of the spine. So the firm side is a better option.

Conclusion

Layla is quite the competitive brand, it ventured into the industry with a flippable mattresses to offer sleepers dual comfort on both sides of a mattress. Layla has two flippable mattresses: one original and one hybrid.

Layla provides the needed comfort for every sleeper with its comfort layers on both sides of its mattresses, all that is needed is a flip to get the firm side and away from the soft side.

While Layla’s flippable mattresses and the comfort they offer are great, it has got nothing on the Helix brand where six fine hybrids mattresses come along with their luxurious counterparts.

Helix leads with comfort layers made of memory foam and superior quilted covers for some cool redefined comfort.

And when it comes to support, Helix outperforms with a zoned body shaped layer that adapts to the shape of the body to balance the spine, relief pressure and back pains.
